Winged mite-beast, bred large to catch workers who once tried to flee their tasks. With its wranglers long dead, the Moorwing stalked the towers of Greymoor, feasting on passing pilgrims and tenders alike.

Background

Moorwing began as a deliberately engineered predator. Citadel authorities bred this mite-beast to exceptional size specifically to hunt down Dreg laborers attempting escape from forced duties in Greymoor. After its handlers died, Moorwing became Greymoor's dominant aerial hunter, preying on pilgrims and tenders who traversed the towers. The falconer's hood it wears remains from the days it was controlled.

In-Game Events

First sighting occurs three rooms west of Greymoor's Bellway, where Moorwing flies through the background. The main fight typically happens at Greymoor's eastern entrance to Bellhart—you must defeat Moorwing to enter the town. If Garmond and Zaza were met elsewhere in Greymoor, they may arrive to assist after the fight begins. The encounter can be skipped: completing Flea Master Mooshka's first Wish before fighting Moorwing causes the Caravan to occupy the arena; or you can unlock Bellhart from the opposite side via the Simple Key Wormways route through Shellwood. If skipped, Moorwing relocates in Act 2 to a new position before Greymoor's Bellway (no Garmond/Zaza assist). In Act 3, Moorwing becomes void-corrupted. After victory, the Flea Caravan collects its corpse and later roasts it in Fleatopia for their festival feast.

Behaviour & Tactics

Moorwing stays airborne above ground level with three core attacks (contact: 2 Masks). Phase 1: • Swoop Assault: Dives toward you, then briefly flies along the ground before rising after passing you; at long range may skim the ground until reaching you. • Quick Swipes: Screeches, then lunges slightly forward with rapid downward slashes. • Blade Toss: Throws a spinning blade that skims the ground then rises. Phase 2 (390 HP, or 780 HP void-corrupted): • Inverted Blade Toss (new): Flips upside-down, launching spinning blades both left and right that arc downward, cross, and continue to the edges. • Enhanced Swoop: Follows the swoop with a Blade Toss toward you. • Enhanced Blade Toss: Throws two blades; the second loops in a large circle back toward Moorwing and may pivot to target you. Act 3 Void Corruption: Adds a void-blade area attack swirling tendrils around itself. Notes: • The arena is not locked—you can retreat by exiting. • A wooden platform to the right can be permanently destroyed by a swoop.

Trivia

  • The falconer-style hood implies prior handler control.
  • Caravan roasting scene in Fleatopia is a recurring world detail acknowledged by NPCs.
