A monumental mechanical construct powered by rotating gears and internal engines. Pharloom's engineers achieved something remarkable—an immense machine that moves with agility and precision.

Background

One of four titanic automatons built by the Citadel; records imply it was deployed to eliminate a Pinstress defector. The rogue pinned the machine through its neck mechanism and left it under rubble in Far Fields. Over years, vegetation engulfed its lower frame until Hornet’s arrival and its reactivation.

In-Game Events

Lies dormant in Far Fields, a pin through its neck. After obtaining Drifter's Cloak and returning, it reactivates, initiating battle and ultimately tumbling into lava on defeat. If entirely bypassed and Act 3 is reached, the automaton vanishes and its journal entry unlocks automatically.

Behaviour & Tactics

Only the head takes damage. Hands telegraph attacks by glowing. Phase 1: • Horizontal Sweep: Lower arm sweeps across the field (left→right or right→left). • Vertical Strike: Upper arm slams down, submerging up to two platforms on its side plus center. Each platform recovers on its own timer. Phase 2 (450 HP): • Meteor Barrage: Both arms pound the ceiling, raining lava rocks in 7–8 waves while other attacks may overlap. Phase 3 (325 HP): • Faster tempo. Phase 4 (200 HP): • Outer platforms are destroyed, replaced by updrafts. Meteor Barrage disabled; overall cadence slows. Use updrafts to reach two ceiling explosives—detonating both drops a massive boulder to crush the head instantly. Notes: You can leave the arena anytime. For horizontal sweeps, time aerial hits or use Drifter’s Cloak to hover; for vertical strikes, beware gaps unless you have Magma Bell.

Trivia

  • Dormant machines near the Twelfth Architect glow and tremble to Needolin music.
  • Ceiling explosives persist into the subsequent Savage Beastfly fight if left unused.
  • Severe damage reduction cuts level 3–4 Needle/Tool damage to ~45%.
  • Skilled pogo routing can trigger the boulder kill before Phase 4.
