Song queen of the Skarr and their most talented warrior. This graceful ruler once possessed skill to rival my own. At her youthful peak, her voice united all Skarr in her service.

Background

Skarrsinger Karmelita commands the Skarr as both song queen and supreme warrior, her voice possessing supernatural power to unite the entire tribe under her leadership. During the Haunting's onset, Karmelita's vocal abilities provided the Skarr strength to resist the pale monarch's corrupting will - enduring longer than most tribes before succumbing. As Snail Shamans note: 'In youth, her voice united the wild tribes. Gave them the strength to resist the pale monarch's will... longer than most at least.' Time gradually eroded Karmelita's strength, leaving her tribe increasingly vulnerable to Haunting effects as her protective influence waned. Yet even diminished, her fading power still anchored some resistance - Gilly observes: 'The red-shells... Even haunted, they seem to lose less of themselves... What anchor allows them to retain such strength?' This residual protection stems from Karmelita's weakened but persistent vocal abilities. The Hunter's Journal acknowledges her former prowess: 'This graceful ruler once possessed skill to rival my own' - remarkable recognition from such a skilled observer. Her Needolin dialogue reflects maternal devotion to her hunters: 'For the singer... For the mother... For these hunters bold... For you, my children... For you, I sing...' Originally named Hunter Queen Carmelitia in early development materials before the final designation.

In-Game Events

During Act 3, the elderly, exhausted Karmelita can be encountered in Far Fields. The 'SEEK: The Old Hearts' Wish enables a unique interaction: playing the Elegy of the Deep beside the queen transports you into her memory realm, where confrontation occurs with Karmelita in her prime. Before facing Skarrsinger Karmelita directly, you must survive an enemy gauntlet consisting of: 2 Skarr Scouts, 2 Skarr Stalkers, 1 Spear Skarr, and 2 Last Claws. Defeating Skarrsinger Karmelita grants the Hunter's Heart. Post-defeat dialogue reveals her nostalgia: '...How we hunted... How we sang... My children, I saw you glorious...' The path to her begins at her statue in Hunter's March - a hidden passage requiring Silk Soar to access.

Behaviour & Tactics

While not actively attacking, Skarrsinger Karmelita glides and dances throughout the arena while spinning her curvesickle weapons. During this movement, she can parry your Needle attacks - presumably dependent on curvesickle positioning when strikes land, making close-range combat difficult. Almost all attacks deal 2 Masks damage; contact damage inflicts only 1 Mask. Phase 1 Arsenal: • Twirl Slash: Executes a twirling slash with curvesickles. • Triple Slash: Performs 3 curvesickle slashes covering approximately 60% of the arena. May cancel the third slash or replace it with a Twirl Slash aimed in your direction. • Twin Curvesickles: Throws 2 curvesickles - one horizontal, one diagonal upward - toward your position. • Twirl Dive: Leaps toward you before slamming diagonally groundward, causing bones to erupt afterward in your direction. • Aerial Curvesickles: Leaps airborne before throwing 2 downward curvesickles that curve left and right, sweeping horizontally across the arena. Phase 2 Enhancement (1000 HP threshold): Karmelita shouts, marking phase transition. Two attacks gain enhanced properties plus a new assault: • Enhanced Twin Curvesickles: May twirl then throw a second curvesickle set. • Enhanced Aerial Curvesickles: May throw a second set shortly after the first. • Bone Charge: Dashes to near arena side before charging to the opposite end, causing tall bones to erupt behind her path. Phase 3 Acceleration (500 HP threshold): Another shout marks this phase. No new attacks, but attack pace accelerates significantly. Audio Detail: While staggered, the lead vocal in Karmelita's boss theme pauses - implying the music is diegetic and actually sung by Karmelita herself during combat, reinforcing her identity as Skarrsinger.
