Rare, enormous Skull Scuttler. The Marrow's largest predator, feared for ferocity. The skull it bears seems taken from an even larger beast—without the bones, such scale would strain belief.

Background

A singular giant among Skull Scuttlers, evolved far beyond typical size to dominate The Marrow. The massive skull on its carapace belonged to an even more colossal creature—evidence of prehistoric enormity. Two variants exist: the original lurking within The Marrow and a conditional second specimen capable of rampaging into Bone Bottom after specific progress and rest conditions.

In-Game Events

First fight: within The Marrow, target of Bone Bottom’s ‘Terrible Tyrant’ Wish. Delaying to Act 3 spawns a void-corrupted version. A second specimen may spawn after defeating the first (30% chance) if you’ve advanced to Blasted Steps/Citadel/Sinner’s Road and rested at any bench outside Moss Grotto/The Marrow. Returning to Bone Bottom’s bench then triggers its violent entrance—smashing eastward into town, destroying structures (including the bench) and killing Pilby if present. Accepting ‘Silk and Soul’ ends its hostile behavior toward Bone Bottom; Flick the Fixer later rebuilds the bench.

Behaviour & Tactics

The Marrow Arena (all attacks 2 Masks): • Rampage Charge: back-scuttle windup then long charge past you; skids briefly at end—punish on skid. • Leaping Slam: jumps to your position; two ceiling rocks fall (one near boss, one random). • Tantrum Barrage: roars then three in-place jump slams, each dropping 1–2 rocks from random ceiling points. Immunity: overhead Needle bounces off skull crest (no damage), though pogoing for reposition works. Act 3 Corruption: doubles health and adds five-shot Void Projectile Barrage. Bone Bottom Arena: opens with immediate Rampage Charge, modified Tantrum (first jump drops 2 rocks; later jumps none). Neither arena locks—retreat remains possible.
